I ordered this shift dress from Nordstrom before our trip to DC last weekend because I thought it would be a perfect travel dress (I’m always thankful when I pack outfits that are easy and not fussy on trips) & I knew I would also get wear out of it in the future.  It’s one of those easy to throw on pieces that you can dress up with heels and earrings or dress down with flat sandals and a cross-body.  I figured I could throw it on for dinner and drinks or I could also wear it to a cocktail party.  Oh–and I love the color and the fact that it’s a v-neck [&& under $100]!  fyi, I did get mine hemmed to be a bit shorter on me.

I had been to DC once before but I hadn’t had the chance to explore the Georgetown area.  I knew it would be right up my alley so I was anxious to head there for dinner and drinks on Saturday.  We got lucky and missed the rain so it was a beautiful night!  We had a long wait for dinner but we really didn’t mind because we wanted to have some time to enjoy the view of the water and the huge boats. Ordering a couple of Coronas from an outdoor bar made it officially feel like SUMMER! 🙂  We decided to go to Farmers, Fishers & Bakers (thanks to all of you who sent me recommendations) because it was also by the water and had a huge, interesting menu.  I ordered a pickled veggie and feta salad and a crab cake and it was yummmm!  The decor was also too cute.  There was a big claw-foot tub outside the restrooms with a stream of water running into it from the ceiling and you can find little marble bee hives in the stalls of the ladies room with bees up above.   Definitely winning uniqueness points there!  I highly recommend giving it a try if you’re in the area!

I’m wishing I was back on vaycay today–BUT I am pumped that it’s already Friday Eve!  Short weeks are the best, right?!

We were in Washington, DC for the long weekend and had such a good few days!  I have several outfit posts to share with you all this week!

On Saturday we strolled around some before lunch and saw the monuments.  In my book there’s nothing better than a long weekend without a schedule & this one was just that.  We were realllly hot [the temps were up there] but we were also really happy to just be enjoying the city together.  It was a relief to duck into the shade and snap these pics!

I purchased a few things before our trip and I was so happy to have them! You know how sometimes before you go on a trip you do some internet searching and come up with all the wrong things?  Well, thankfully I hit the nail on the head with these!  I bought this little Tory Burch cross-body bag and it turned out to be exactly what I was looking for.  It’s very structured.  This was a must because I knew I wanted a bag that I wouldn’t have to worry about loosing its shape as I packed it in my carryon or carried it on my hip during the day.  It has a thin pocket on the outside of the front that is perfect for sticking my phone into and the cross-body strap is adjustable so I could shorten it up to where I like it.  The price point is surprisingly good & it also comes in white, tan & red!  I thought these studded Sam Edelman sandals would go well with looks from day to night and they were actually comfy to walk in too.  They are 30% off right now and come in three other cute colors to boot!  (I almost went with the nude option..)  These sunnies are so fun right–they’re a matte finish and a cute, cute shape & only $50!  This hat [& some dry shampoo-this one is the BEST, I’m completely hooked] was a lifesaver, seriously!  I wore it everyday!  Oh & lastly–this black top is a great, easy to throw on staple for your closet [also on sale!  40% off!].

Ok–& the clothes are good and all, but the deets I have to share on the food are even better.  We stopped into GCDC for lunch and we were so happy we did!  I had the BEST sandwich I’ve ever ordered.  Their specialties are grilled cheese and mine had prosciutto, dates & goat cheese! So, so yummy!

Stay tuned for some additional travel looks later this week!  How was your long weekend?  I will say that I am feeling a little left out on the family BBQ and pool time front–maybe we can squeeze some of that in next weekend!

This past weekend was so super busy but we managed to squeeze in a little coffee and donut run on Saturday before we met up with family and friends and I am so glad we did.  It was relaxing and sooo yummy!  North Lime Coffee & Donuts is a little local spot that makes the best treats. I wore my favorite knit romper when we went because the weather was nice (and it feels like wearing pj’s).  Mine is from last year, but I found this one that is similar and so cute and available in a few different colors.  It’s a good item to have in your closet because it can be super casual or dressed up a little too.

What are some of your alls favorite casual items to grab on the weekends?  I’m in the market for a cute knit dress with some shape to it (maybe a drawstring waist) and if I find a good one I’ll be sure to share!

Ethan’s birthday is today!  We celebrated with his friends on Saturday and I wore this outfit.  This top and these flats are new and I am in LOVE so we had to snap a few photos to share!  I was drawn to this blouse initially because a love a good black and white stripe, but when I got it the mail I realized I liked it even more because you can tie it in the front.  How cute will it be with some chic black shorts too?  And I love the length of the sleeves–I hate roll up sleeves on blouses when they hit right at the elbow.  It drives me nuts! Anyone else?  I also was in the market for some cute flats to take me into Spring and I wanted them to be a pair that was trendy but also comfy enough to wear all day.  These fit the bill and have an affordable price tag too!

Hope you all are having a good week.  I feel like I have been so busy lately and all I really want to do is have a night to catch up on laundry–does that make me old and boring? Ha!

I have wanted some leather leggings for a long time.  I had a pair last year that a wore a couple times but they weren’t super comfy.   This pair however–they are comfy & cute!  They’re knit on the backside and faux leather on the front.  I’m wearing them here with my favorite tunic of the season and I know I’ll be sporting them with tennies, a cozy cable knit sweater, big scarf and messy bun on the weekends too.  Hope you all are having a relaxing Sunday.  Thanks for stopping by! Muah!
