I’ve said it once and I will say it time and time again.. I love a staycation. There’s something so nice about escaping to a hotel right down the road and treating your stay like a true vacation. We did just that this past weekend at the 21c Museum Hotel Lexington!
The beauty of a staycation is that you are able to get away but don’t have the extra stress that travel can bring. You can pack at the last minute, run home to take care of your pets and not feel pressured to do research about the city ahead of time. Just hop in the car and go. Then give yourself permission to relax!
&& the beauty of staying at a 21c Museum Hotel is that you get the benefit of a luxe, boutique hotel as well as tons of art to browse and enjoy.
ROOMS
My favorite place to stay in any hotel is in a corner room. I absolutely love all the natural light and windows that come along with it. They are the best stays, in my opinion. So, I was thrilled when we had a corner king room last weekend. There was plenty of space to lounge and spread out and I loved catching the views of the city from up above.
ART
The hotel has been built around a contemporary museum, with rotating art exhibits. Pieces are scattered all around–from the streets up to the higher floor viewing galleries. The museum is open 24/7 is free for anyone to browse. The current exhibition is Pop Stars! Popular Culture and Contemporary Art. Grab a cocktail at the bar and walk around! ps, you can do this even if you are not staying at the hotel. This makes a great date night activity.
EATS
We had dinner on Saturday night at the restaurant downstairs at the hotel, Lockbox. I started with pinot noir and Ethan had an Old Fashioned and then we shared bread and a cheese plate. We followed this up with NY steak, crispy fries, beet salad and Key West shrimp!
Oh, and the restaurant does all kinds of fun events too that are worth looking into. You can see the most recent one we attended here.
