We spent this past Labor Day weekend in Franklin, TN with Ethan’s fam and had a great time!
Franklin is a smaller town right outside of Nashville (only 20 mins). We rented a house and it worked out perfectly. You can see the exact listing for that here. It had plenty of space, a somewhat eclectic vibe and two really nice outside decks to enjoy. And it was only about a mile from downtown Franklin. Definitely walkable if it wasn’t 100 degrees ha! Downtown proved to be a super popular destination. It was packed! There were tons of little boutiques to browse in and a few restaurants and bars.
We started off the trip with visit to High Brow Coffee + Tea on Saturday am. It was such a relaxing spot and in such a cute area! This was only about a 5ish minute drive from the VRBO rental house.
That afternoon we filled our time with mini golf and shopping. Can you guess which of the two was more my speed? 😉
Saturday evening we headed downtown Franklin for dinner and drinks. We stopped in the second floor of Gray’s for cocktails (it’s a cool space with live music) and then attempted to eat at 55 South. Unfortunately after a 2hr+ wait (which was estimated to be an hour to an hour and fifteen) we finally gave up and headed to just grab some pizza. The food was not the highlight that evening, BUT the company did not disappoint! ps, we were told by someone leaving the restaurant and my cousin who is from the area that we did not miss much by not going to 55 South. So, I’d say skip that one if you’re heading to Franklin.
On Sunday morning we ventured into Nashville and hit up KilleBrew Coffee for lattes. It is inside the Thompson Nashville hotel lobby. The decor is so on point! Definitely worth the visit! It seemed like a great area to stay in too, if you are looking for a hotel in the city.
First coffee and then biscuits because after we headed back to Franklin we went to Biscuit Love for breakfast. It’s a line out the door, order at the window kind of spot and proved to be super popular. I will say though—it’s got NOTHING on Biscuit Head in Asheville. If you have been there then you know. That place is the real deal!
Sunday afternoon we met up with my cousin for a drink and then went out to celebrate Ethan’s mom that night. It was her birthday on Monday! Luckily, that meant we got to end the night with Baskin Robbins ice cream cake!
On Monday we had breakfast at the house and then stopped for coffees on our way out of town at Frothy Monkey. This is their 51st Ave/ The Nations location.
Franklin proved to be a good spot for a weekend getaway! It is definitely close enough to go back and forth to Nashville from (which I suggest doing for dinners, as we did not have much luck with restaurants in town) and was really relaxing. We will be heading back to Nashville in a couple months for a mini-honeymoon immediately following the wedding. We’re staying at The Fairlane Hotel for that and this trip made me look forward to it even more. Cannot wait!
