Fall Sweaters: Quality over Quantity

And just like that, I am ready for Fall–and it’s all because I found a sweater that I am OBSESSED with.  As soon as I saw this Free People number, I added it to my cart and purchased immediately.  It is so luxe.  The perfect amount of slouch, the amazing soft, velvet-y material and the retro color scheme of the stripes… gives me all sorts of heart eyes!  It’s even better in person too. [wearing an xs]

I paired it with my favorite denim shorts and mules here for an evening at our lake house, but I cannot wait to wear it with black jeans and sneakers.  And how cute will it be with a black mini skirt and tall boots?  Dying.

After a recent closet clean out, I took a look at some of the sweaters I kept and am still really excited to wear again this year.  It got me thinking about quality vs quantity.  I want to make sure the sweaters I spend money on this year will be ones that are of substance, ones that I will want to have still around in 2018 and beyond.  This one certainly fits the bill!

Turns out, this is not the only ahh-maze Free People sweater that is out already this year either.  How good are these?!

Ok, now I am ready for weekends with warm lattes and red wine! ha! Who’s with me?

Oh, and ps–totally unrelated but this made me so happy last night so I had to share.  I tried the ClickList service Kroger offers now, the one where you can place and pay for your order online and then select a time to pick it up from the store.  LIFE CHANGER!  I have no idea why I waited this long to give it a try.  (Especially since the grocery puts me in a horrrrible mood.)  It’s going to save me so much time, money and stress!  Comparing prices online is so much easier than dodging people in the aisles trying to see the tags and I think I will make less trips this way too because I will get multiple of things that I normally wouldn’t because I wanted to avoid carrying it.  Seriously, give it a try and let me know what you think.

The Softest Lounge Wear

Let’s get real–I love lounging.  I love lounge wear.  And I really love soft lounge wear.  It was actually chilly last weekend.  The temps dipped down a little and it poured the rain almost all day on Sunday so I took full advantage and wore these new pieces I got in the mail recently.

Here’s the only thing that you need to know… both these pants and this pullover are insanely soft.  Just absolutely cuddly!  I already have these pants in grey so I knew they were winners.  You know how you have that pair of pants you feel like you can’t get on fast enough after you walk through the door and strip off your work pants or jeans?  That’s these.  [wearing a small]

My pullover will also pair great with jeans & sneakers for a cozy weekend look.  I LOVE the extra material around the sleeve.  [wearing an xs]

&& I just couldn’t resist these faux fur sandals any longer.  Slides are all the rage this year and thank gosh because they are so comfortable!  I know the fur is very trendy so I found a pair that kept the cost down but is still good quality.  This pair beats several options that I had seen in store over the past few months.  [size up 1/2 size]

So maybe this post makes me seem lazy–but I don’t even care! Ha!  These pieces are too good not to share!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Try On Session! #nsale

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is open to shop–NOW!  I am SO excited!  The last few days you had to have a Nordstrom card to shop the sale but now it’s fair game for everyone.  && trust me the items included this year are good–and they will go back up to full price soon so shop them quick while they are discounted.

Red Heels

I think it’s always good idea to buy a couple of fun tops each Summer.  Ones that you can wear with jeans and heels on a night out or with jean shorts and flip flops for a day time lunch.  This little red number certainly fits that bill!  I have worn it too many times to count in the past few weeks.  I love that it’s a bold color, is one shoulder, and has the cutest ruffle detailing. [wearing a small]

&& I can’t even begin to tell you all how much I am loving these heels!  A classic style–but this color helps them make a statement.  They also come in neutral options and would be a great shoe to have for weddings and cocktail events. [runs true to size]

I wore this outfit when we went out for mexican and margs with friends in NYC.  We sat outside at the Cascabel Taqueria on the Upper East Side and had the best night.  Try it out if you are looking for a casual place!  We snapped these photos on the balcony of our room before we headed out.  We stayed at The Viceroy Central Park for this trip and I would recommend it!  The location was great–close to several different areas of the city, the decor was chic–white black and brushed gold and the rooftop bar is a dream–nice view of the park and a great atmosphere.

The low down:  This sale happens each year at Nordstrom and so many A+ items are included and marked down.  All the pictures included above feature items that I have [and love] that are now marked down!  I look at this sale as a perfect time to buy for the Summer because there’s oodles of warm weather items that are included.  && with Memorial Day weekend right around the corner (I cannot wait) this is the perfect way to kick off the season.  I mean, who can pass up a little shopping anyhow??

Real life tip:  Nordstrom is great about doing price adjustments.  It’s just one of the many reasons why I shop their site so often.  Every time I have called customer service (1.877.906.0205), I am shocked about how friendly they are and how quickly they take care of it for me.  During a big sale like this is a great time to check items you have ordered recently and see if they are now on sale.  If the same color and size is available then they will credit your account for the difference between the price you paid and the price it’s now on sale for.  Just make sure you have the order number and the item number when you call.  Also–I called yesterday morning with several adjustments and the wait time on the line was about 15 minutes.  I opted to have a rep call me back when they were available instead of wasting time and it was so handy!

Strategy:  Often times sales like this can be a little overwhelming.  So, I’ve added some of my favorite picks below for you all to shop from.  And something else to keep in mind, I usually try to take advantage and snag one item that’s a little higher price point that I have had my eye on, like a good pair of denim.  Then I look for a few inexpensive and trendy items for the season, a neutral pair of shoes, and a good wear-to-work item or two.  This can help you feel like you money is well spent.
