Deep V Tank

Tank [also found here on sale!] || Bralette || Jean Shorts, similar || Sandals [true to size]|| Handbag || Earrings [very lightweight] || Sunglasses

Apparently I am the girl who snaps pics of her outfit at a local, casual resturant.  Yep, that’s me haha!  But it is important to me to show you all outfits that I wear in my real life.  And this is an outfit that I wore out to get some ceviche and a marg with Ethan.  It’s easy and these earrings make it fun, right?!  Those colorful pom poms won me over! Bonus: This deep v tank is on sale now for only $18! Ive worn it lots because you can dress it up or down. [wearing a small in the tank and bralette]

I know we are in the heat of Summer right now, hence my outfit above, ha!  And even though I, for one, am not ready for it to be over–I am still really excited for warm nights on the patio and days spent on the lake–but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t also excited about the idea of new sweaters, boots and moto jackets!  That’s the beauty of the Nordstrom Anniversary sale being right around the corner.  I can spend some time picking out new items for the seasons ahead, buy them on sale and then hop right back into my swimsuit!  And when the cooler temps hit I will have new goodies to pull back out.

Sooooo, don’t forget the sale begins on Thursday and if you are a Nordstrom cardholder then you can shop the sale right away.  Trust me you want to do this because items sell SO quickly.  Apply now so you have access!  And remember, you can always choose to purchase with your Nordstrom card or one of your existing cards.

Read my full post from last year to see what type of card I have.  After having mine for a year now, I can honestly say I would recommend it and I wouldn’t suggest it to you all if I felt otherwise.

I will be covering the sale here with several posts and I will also be sharing tid bits on my Instagram page and story so be sure to stay tuned!

Versatile Summer Dresses!

I try to buy a couple cute dresses each Summer that will carry me through a variety of events.  The main reason for this being that dresses are just so much easier to throw on.  I need ones that will work for anything from my boyfriend’s office patio party on Friday evening, to a bridal/baby shower during the day, to an impromptu mid-week date night or even for a Sunday afternoon meal with family.  Ones that I can wear casual flat sandals with when my hair is up in a bun but also look good with wedges and wavy hair for a more put together look.

Often times when I browse for a dress like this, I start here on the Nordstrom site.  These are the dresses in the women’s section and the sort field is set to featured.  It gives me an idea of what is popular right now and from there, I can start to decide what direction I want to go in.  After some scrolling, my next step is to change the sort function to Newest so I can see what has just arrived on the site.  And more times that not, I end up filtering both of these pages by price.  Because if you’re actually in the market to get one sent to your house rather than just doing some “window shopping” then you only want to see ones that are in realistic range.  Kind of the same concept as, “no thank you realtor.. I do not want to go inside the $1.2 million dollar home only to fall in love and then remember my budget is $300K”, right?!

I rounded up a few more dresses that would fall in this category for you all and you can shop them here:

I think this one is probably at the very top of my wish list.  (How am I so into red these days??)  But this one is a close second.  I had a Free People white dress similar to this one last Summer and I practically wore it out!  && I would definitely have to snag this one if I was headed to Mexico!

The dress in these photos is everything though so I can certainly recommend it!  It can be tied in tighter or more lose at the waist, has pockets [!] and is lined so it’s not see through.  Under $100 too!  [wearing a xs]

After we snapped these photos last weekend, I ditched the sun hat and switched into these sneaks so we could walk downtown and have a casual lunch (complete with french fries and grapefruit mimosas).  I loved it worn casually too! [I sized up a 1/2 size in the sneaks]

What is your go-to ootd in the summmmmatime?!  Share with me becuase I am always looking for new ideas!

White Beachy Sweater & Weekend Sales

I swear… I have been looking for a good white “beachy” sweater for YEARS.  You know, the one that you can wear with lighter colored jeans and a cami in the Spring and the one that you can also throw on over a bikini top with jean shorts on a summer evening  after being by the water all day.  This one is PERFECT!  Finallyyyy.  [wearing a small for more oversized fit in the tee & sweater both]

I just got these jeans in on Friday and I think they’ll be worn a lot.  I was looking for a pair of Levi’s that didn’t have a ton of rips and these were the winning pair because they have a bit of stretch in them.  Just be SURE to size up!  I am always a 25 and I ordered a 26 and honestly, I think I might have been happier with a 27 so they were a more relaxed fit.

Hope you all have had a good weekend.  We’ve been down at the lake house since Friday night.  I’m sharing the new furniture we just got and are putting together on my IG story!

Oh–and I want to share a couple of things that I just bought on maj sale.  One is this cashmere sweater at 70% off, yes 70!  (You all know I am a BIG fan of buying cashmere at the end of the season.  Always happy in the coming year when I do so!)  And another is this fun little red lace number & this black top (that discount is crazy)!  Here are a few more of my favorites for you to browse:

Cheers!

Spring Trends

Some years I hate the transition into Spring.  It’s like I either want a super soft grey cozy sweater or I want a pair of cut off denim shorts–the in between can be hard.  However, this year I have already found myself enjoying the middle months more so I had to ask myself why.  I want to recreate this feeling every year so I am always enjoying time periods rather than wishing them away to get to the next.  So here’s the main two differences from this year..

First, we made a point to travel to warmer spots in the first part of the year.  We did a long weekend in Miami in January and weekend in Charleston in February.  These definitely helped get me ready for Spring.  It was a welcomed change of pace just to be able to have bare ankles so soon in the new year without pushing the envelope too soon here in KY and being grumpy becuase I was really freezing.  So I will definitely try to do some similar travel again next year.

Second, I am really loving some of the fashion trends that are going to be saturating the market this Spring.  I combined several of those into the outfit that you see above.  Easy to wear, off the shoulder tops–light wash denim–mules–chokers–and hoop earrings!  All a yes, in my book!

This Free People lightweight sweater is pretty much stealing the show here though.  It’s the perfect little number to take you into warmer months and it also comes in several other color options!  Pair it with some jean shorts, a glass of wine & a patio and you are good to go! [wearing a small for a slouchy fit]

I am also LOVING this one and this one.  Both will give this same laid back, effortless look.

If you have the shopping bug like me then check out the new arrivals in the trend section on the Nordstrom site.  It’s always one of my favorite places to browse and get ideas of what I want to add to my closet before I finalize an online order.

Spring Break Wear

Trips to the beach in the Spring are good for the soul.  Everyone gets the itch to be somewhere bright after the boring Winter months and I think a little warm weather getaway always helps–whether that be packing up for a full week away for Spring Break or just a quickie long weekend!  But I have honestly always found them a little hard to shop for.  You’re anxious to jump into Summer clothes but you know there will be windy days and chilly nights.

My suggestion?  Add some items like this little white number to your cart.  Something that is a light weight fabric but still provides some coverage.  That way you can throw it on over your bathing suit if you’re heading to grab coffee in the morning before hitting the pool and you can also dress it up a bit by wearing it with jeans and a statement earring to dinner one night.  The off the shoulder style will still let you show off your tan!  I styled it above with jean shorts, wedges & a hat (which is another option) and I think this look would be perfect if you had a day where you were going out for lunch and shopping.

The top and shorts are both Free People.  They are my go-to for casual pieces.  I wear their items all year long, but I always think they step up their game in the Spring.   Here are a few of my other favorites that are carried at Nordstrom:

I sized up one in both the top and the shorts.  However–I don’t think you need to.  The items don’t run small; I would have been fine getting my normal size in each.  I just wanted a slouchy fit in the top and I wanted a less fitted pair of denim shorts that hung on my hips a bit more.

I hope there’s something good about your Monday!  Even if it’s something small!
