Oversized Sweater & Shopbop Sale Picks

This is pretty much going to be my uniform once the temps drop.  An oversized sweater, leather leggings, embellished sneakers, larger than life sunnies and a catch-all bag.  DONE.

I love this sweater more in person than I did online and that’s saying something because I was immediately obsessed.  The texture and size makes it perfectly chic.  I am ordering a second color–and I’m thinking I am going for the navy.  I don’t have many navy options in my closet and I love the idea of pairing it with black for a Winter look. The best part?  It is not itchy at all!!! [wearing a small]

&& I cannot leave you all hanging on the maj sale that is going on–the Shopbop has started!  Shopbop houses one of the best mix of brands and they rarely do site-wide sales so when they do it makes for a great time to do a little shopping and grab something for the new season.  Think about buying pieces that will be staples.. straight leg jeans, lux sweaters, faux fur jackets, trendy sneakers, moto jackets.  Key items that you can build outfits around time and time again.  Here are my picks for you all to browse and get inspiration from:

Ok, let me know what you all buy!  && haaaaaappy Friday Eve!!

We spent this past weekend in Chicago and while we did get up and snap these pics one morning, I certainly did not sport this outfit for long–it was HOT!  I was really glad that we scheduled our boat tour early Saturday morning at 9am before the heat of the day.  Which, by the way, if you are in the city then I highly recommend!  We did the architecture river tour and the guide told us such interesting tidbits about the buildings without being the least bit boring and there was a full bar, air conditioning and bathrooms on the lower deck.  A view and a mimosa was the perfect start to the day!

But in contrast to the last few days, it is going to cool off soon [thankfully the forecast confirms this] & I cannot wait to pull out some of the layering pieces I have been collecting.  One of which is definitely this new grey, textured Rebecca Minkoff scarf from Nordstrom.  I have been stalking their accessories section of the site daily–seriouslyyy– because I know they have good options every year (think trend and quality combined) and I am beyond ready for Fall & Winter goodies!

It is no secret that I think a wrap like this is the perfect thing to have in anyones closet.  && once I saw the texture on this one I could not pass it up.  I love the shade of grey and how many different ways you can tie it. Plus–the material isn’t itchy, which is key!

Here are a few other options from Rebecca Minkoff..  I love each one!  It will be hard not to order a couple more of these, that’s for sure.

Below you can see how I’ll wear this piece: draped around my neck, over my shoulders as a wrap or wrapped up tightly for warmth.

Last night was our first night home with the animals after being away and I have to tell you, it was a good feeling to be back on the couch cuddled up with them watching Gossip Girl as I wrote this post.  We ordered pizza for dinner and skipped the workout.  Not bad for a Monday!  Hopefully I can get back on track today but I am always a firm believer to easing back into work after a great weekend away.  Hope you all are having a good week!

The Best Winter Coats for 2017

I couldn’t help it–truth be told–I actually purchased this faux fur number in July.  And while it is still too hot here to wear it just yet, I don’t regret it!  I cannot wait to throw it on this Winter to keep me warm.  I think it’s so chic.  I love the deep black color, the stitching of the structured square pattern, the slightly oversized fit and the open collar.  Oh, and just one more thing—it is SO soft to the touch and very luxe!  Totally timeless.  [wearing a small]

Faux fur is only one of the huge trends that we will be seeing this Winter for coats.  They all center around texture.  Fun, right?!  This is the most excited I have been for outerwear in years!  The options are just SO good! I rounded up my favorites below since now is really the time to shop for one.

&& back to my outfit here for a quick second.. My sweater is a splurge, but it is on sale right now!  Can you believe it’s 50% off?!?  It’s a Vince cashmere so I know it was a good investment.   Plus, you all know how I feel about black and grey!  [wearing a small]

You are going to see sock booties everywhere this year.  I looked high and low for a inexpensive pair to try out before I headed to NYC for fashion week and ended up landing on these.  I love them! [I always size up a 1/2 at Forever21, wearing an 8]

I know it’s not fun to hear anyone complain…..but this has been the most Mondayest week.  It has felt long and I feel like no matter how hard I try, I just can’t seem to get ahead.  But it’s nose to the grindstone for today, tonight and tomorrow and then it’s smooth sailing because we are heading to Chicago for the weekend with some of our best friends.  I CANNOT wait.  We have the architectural boat tour scheduled for Saturday morning and that’s it so far.  Sooooo, if you all have any coffee/food/bar/shopping/photo spots that you know I would love will you send them my way?!  I’d love it!

Let me know if you buy a coat!  I will keep you updated on which one I pull the trigger on next!

New York Fashion Week Packing Guide // NYFW SS18

I landed in NYC on Wednesday night and I could not be happier to be back in the city!  && for NYFW no less!  The designers will be showcasing pieces from their Spring/Summer 2018 lines for the next few days.  Eek!

Side Note — I got a text message a few hours before I was supposed to take off saying my flight had been cancelled and I was rescheduled on one the next day.  [panic] But I was able to get on the airline app and pick a different flight from another airport.  So I rushed home to get my bag and somehow ended up catching the earlier flight (thanks Ethan)!  Moral of that story, if you are flying then be sure to download the app for the airline you are flying and sign up for text alerts.  If it hadn’t been for that, I’m sure I wouldn’t have seen the cancellation email in time to make the necessary changes.  I just got lucky!

Being back on these busy streets has been ahh-mazing.  I just can’t describe the feeling I have when I am here–I find myself just smiling as I pass all the adorable shops in Soho!  It’s definitely a city that makes you feel alive.

We have already been busy and we have a couple more days of shows, meetings & parties ahead!  But I really wanted to share everything in my suitcase with you all.. you can shop it all below!  My number one tip for packing for New York Fashion Week is to bring sneakers.  Your feet will be thanking you because you will be running around like crazy and walking much more than you’d even imagine.  I bought these before my trip and I ended up LOVING them!  I will definitely be buying more sneakers from Dolce Vita.  The low profile makes them so comfortable!  These are actually 40% off now and they run true to size.  I did not have to size up.  [wearing a 7.5]

ps–some of these items are not showing up in the color I bought them in but if you click on the item then the other color choices will be there.

Most importantly–happy FRIDAY, loves!  I hope you all make it a good one and that everyone who is in the path of this horrible storm stays safe!

Edgy Accessories

We’re spending the weekend at Lake Arrowhead with my fam for the holiday and today we got up early and headed to grab some coffee and brunch. You may have seen on my Instastory, but it ended up being the cutest coffee shop, Read Shop, and the yummiest brunch spot, Paces and Vine.  Both are right outside of Atlanta.

We spent the afternoon floating in the water and paddle boating. This is the nicest private lake and I highly suggest renting a place within this community if you are looking for a weekend away!

Even though it is still warm here I have Fall on the brain.  I know I will be pulling out my black jeans and boots, both are staples in my closet, but I also plan to work in some edgy accessories.  Rebecca Minkoff is my go-to.  The style is right on trend (not a season behind, like some brands) and I have always had good luck with the quality.  My love bag has been on heavy rotation since last Fall–I cannot get enough of the black bag paired with the black hardware and I always end up reaching for it when some of my other bags seem too busy for my outfit.  I think it’s the perfect size (fits my wallet and sunglasses easily) and I love having the back pocket for my phone.  A great alternative to the Chanel Le Boy bag in the old medium size!

The latest Rebecca Minkoff accessory that caught by eye are these statement earrings.  I was dying for these and decided to scoop them up in the silver!  (It looks like that finish is sold out at the moment, but they also come in yellow and rose gold.)  Stars are EVERYWHERE right now and that will continue into the cooler seasons.  Bonus: these earrings are actually super easy to wear since they are VERY lightweight!  I can’t wait to sport them with a ponytail and turtleneck sweater! I also have my eyes on these ear jackets–LOVE.

Here are a few other jewelry finds that also feature stars that I am loving:

I’m looking forward to a short work week!  I leave for New York Fashion Week in a couple days–I can’t believe it’s so soon–and I hope you all follow along.  Stay tuned for a vlog on my YouTube channel as well!
