Shoes every girl needs — Over-the-Knee Boots!

Let’s get straight to it–shoes that EVERY girl needs in her closet?  Over-the-knee boots!  They are hands down my most worn item because they are just so versatile.  I wear them with jeans (as seen here), leggings, skirts & dresses.  I wear them during the week & on the weekends.  But I am not going to lie, finding the puuuuuurect pair was not an easy task.

You all know Nordstrom is my favorite large retailer to shop so I definitely went to their site when looking for a pair of tall boots to replace my $40 pair I found at Kmart (yes, I said Kmart) years ago.  I tried several pairs and sent many back (TG for the free ship & return policy) before I landed on this Marc Fisher pair.  I loved the shape of toe on this pair–slighted pointed with a touch of hardware–and the height of the boot–I wanted them to go up well above my knee but not be overwhelming.  And I also love how they tie in the back and have a zipper on the inside of the ankle.  This makes them easy to get on and off (you don’t need to lay down on the bed and beg someone to pull them off, haha) and the tie helps them stay put and not look slouchy or sloppy.  They have also held up great! [wearing a sz 8, I always go up in boots so I can add thick warm socks]

It’s only Tuesday but I think this week will go by pretty quickly.  We have several things to do around the house to prep for a little birthday get together we are hosting on Saturday for my 30th! Don’t you love having people over because it gives you that push you needed to get something done that you have been talking about for months?  We had been wanting to redo the piece of furniture we use for a bar cart to make it more modern and last Sunday we finally got around to it!  I will share the finished product and other tid bits on my Instastory this week.  Hope you all are having a good one!

Oh, and just a side note–I think a over-sized sweater and OTK boots makes the perfect outfit for Thanksgiving day if your fam does a casual get-together.  These pieces would be great to order!

Polka Dots? Yes, please!

We just touched down in Cali! We’re in San Diego for a couple days because we’re going to the Breeder’s Cup at Del Mar racetrack and then we’re going to drive up the coast and spend a couple more days in LA. I’ve never been to California at all before so this is a definitely a treat! Be sure to follow along on IG and Instastories because I will be sharing lots of god bits from our trip!  We spent the day today wandering around Pacific Beach and La Jolla.  Not bad for a Friday! 🙂

I packed this polka dot dress to wear to the horse races Saturday so I thought I would share some pics with you all from the last time I wore it to a party during Fashion Week.  I think the print and the ruffle layers make it so fun and the deep v gives it a little sass. This time around I will be wearing it with the tie sash it comes with around the waist, but here I decided to pair it with a statement belt. && guess what, it’s under $100! [wearing an xs]

It would make the perfect little dress to grab for a holiday party!  I suggest swapping the statement belt out for the ribbon tie belt the dress comes with and adding a fun pair of red earrings.  You could stick with a heeled OTK boot or go for heels depending on how formal your event is!  ps, these boots are on major sale and would be perfect.

Happy Friday, babes! We made it to the weekend yet again. Have a good one. Muah!

YOU NEED A PAIR OF LOAFERS IN YOUR CLOSET

Turtleneck || Jeans, similar || Faux Fur Stole || Velvet Loafers || Handbag || Sunglasses

Sometimes I struggle with shoes to wear to work.  It’s hard to find a pair that is comfortable enough for all day wear and still on point style-wise.  I have a couple pairs of trusty ballet flats but as it gets cooler I find myself wanting something that covers up my foot a bit more for warmth and also to hide my pale feet a bit (since I usually only tan for the weekends).  So this year I set out to find a pair of loafers.

Last week I was browsing the Nordstrom site and came across these Sam Edelman loafers.  SOLD.  My favorite flats are Sam Edelman and they have held up great so I figured these would be a good choice.  And when I saw that they came in black velvet with silver hardware I almost couldn’t get them in my cart fast enough.  I think that combo makes them trendy, yet is still so classic.  I think these run true to size/maybe a tad big.  If you are in between sizes I would definitely go down.  [wearing a 7.5]

I plan to wear mine with black skinny pants to the office and with jeans in the evenings and on the weekends.  I have them on here with a pink stole (How fun?!), black turtleneck (Great basic! Wearing a small) and levi’s.  and I cant wait to wear them with my stripe cashmere sweater soon too.  I love how they will elevate a simple outfit.

If you are in the market for some loafers and want to browse a few more options then scroll through these picks:

Alrighty, and now it’s on to packing.  We leave on Thursday for our trip to San Diego and LA and while I cannot wait, I am also having a hard time squeezing everything in this week to get prepped.  So wish me luck.  HAPPY HUMP DAY!

BEANIE – THE PERF COLD WEATHER ACCESSORY

Moto Jacket || Turtleneck || Jeans || Sneakers || Beanie || Handbag || Sunglasses

I had been that girl complaining that the temps weren’t feeling Fall enough around here–until this past weekend that is.  It took a turn for the COLD and I dealt with it by pulling out all my favorite beanies.

I wore this look to grab coffee and then go to lunch with Ethan yesterday after we got finished with a shoot.  I had forgotten how cozy and warm a beanie can be!  Totally makes a difference when in the chill when it’s windy outside.  If you don’t have a couple in your closet then you should change that asap!  I can be pretty picky.  I don’t like slouchy ones and I always make sure they have a pom pom.  I get a lot of wear out of this nude one and I also keep a basic black one in heavy rotation.  && I have my eye on this one.  Might have to order it next!

Today is my Mom’s birthday!  HBD, Pam! 🙂  We are heading home to celebrate with her tomorrow night and then we leave for CA on Thursday so it’s going to be a busy week.  I can’t wait! Hope you all have a good one.  ps, I have a caaaa-ute pair of shoes to share with you all on Wednesday so be on the lookout!

A Sweater On Repeat & New Goodies

First off I want to share a few new bits with you all as promised on my Instastory.  I am dying over these velvet heels [runs tts and comes in blush & black] and this velvet top that matches them perfectly.  Also loving–these white booties.  Yessss!  And I think this lace cami is a wardrobe staple.  Essential for layering.  I also showed you all this necklace which is still in stock in green and these are the mules that I will be getting in the mail any day now that I mentioned.

&& on to this chenille sweater.  Which, yes, I have shared before.  But I just think it screams Fall and I have been getting lots of wear out of it so I wanted to give it another go.  Up until the last couple days, it has still been super warm here in KY.  So, last weekend I paired it with a mini skirt and these suede and leather black sneaks.  It would also be so cute to wear with flat OTK boots instead.

Most importantly–I just found out this sweater also comes in a black, grey & cream color combo.  DYING!

In short, I hope you all are as obsessed with chenille as I am because I cannot stop buying or wearing or sharing it!  Have a good week.  🙂
