New York City was crazy, craaaaazy cold—but we had a blast. Nothing beats brunching, exploring the city with my favorite travel partner and meeting up with great friends. Take a look at our first little video recap below! (I’ll include a few details and recommendations from our latest experience in the city below too!)
Editor/videographer/boyfriend note: This is my first time ever taking/editing any video so we would love you all to give us feedback on what you want to see! We plan to take a lot more video of our bigger (and smaller) trips in the future. We’re heading to Cincinnati this weekend for my birthday so you may get a quick recap of that trip soon! We love hearing from you all, thanks for following along. -EC
Lodging —
Hudson Hotel: We ended up being so glad we stayed here! The lobby and bars have such unique decor and we loved the little modern touches in the room. Such a cool vibe! The location is super close to Columbus Circle. I have always stayed more downtown in the city so this was a change of pace, but I really liked the location. If it were warmer we would have walked places a lot more from our hotel (but on this trip–this girl was super quick to schedule a Lyft driver to go everywhere–guilty!) The Hudson also gives you a $15 food/drink credit per day. It came in handy when we wanted to grab a cocktail before heading to dinner or some french fries for a snack. They have an awesome outdoor space too!
Food–
Bubby’s: We stumbled across this place before taking some blog photos one day and I am so thankful! It was the best brunch entree that I have ever had (and that’s saying something). I’ve been craving their eggs benedict ever since! They make theirs with bacon and the BEST biscuits. The arugula salad served with it was totally spot on too. Right up my alley!
Jack’s Wife Freda: Ok, I will totally admit that I wanted to go here because of all the cute IG pics that I have seen.. but really! The space is really small and tight but the menu is really yummy. It’s such a cute little spot. I would definitely go again (and probably order the avocado toast the next time around)!
Sarabeths: We were not a fan of this spot. (Eek, sorry!) They have several locations around the city so we wanted to give it a try but we just weren’t impressed with our food.
Patsy’s Pizza: My very favorite pizza that I have ever ordered! Honestly! Try the prosciutto, sun-dried tomatoes and ricotta cheese on it if you go!
The Meatball Shop: So I don’t even really like meatballs, but this place was so yummy! There’s so many options to choose from and you order by selecting your ingredients on the menu with a dry erase marker. We had a great dinner here.
Cocktails–
Refinery Rooftop Bar: We loved the view here! When we were here it seemed like a popular spot to stop in after work for happy hour which gave it a very “weekend vibe” (even on a Thursday)!
The Plaza: One of my favorite things to do in NYC is wander around fancy hotels and stop in for an afternoon glass of wine. The atmosphere here just puts you in a happy mood!
NOMO Soho: Such a pretty, calm place for cocktail during the day. I loved all the natural light. If you go, be sure to ask for Freddy. He made us great cocktails and was so nice to chat with!
Experiences–
One World Observatory: This is such a neat way to see the city. Absolutely worth the time, They did an excellent job with it–I would tell you more, but part of what we thought was really neat was not really knowing what to expect. It will surprise you.
I really wanted to walk across the Manhattan/Brooklyn Bridge and visit DUMBO, but it was just too darn cold and windy. 🙁 Next time!
Let me know if you all have any other great recommendations for the next time we are in the city! My best friend just graduated from SCAD (so proud of him!) and moves to NYC tomorrow to begin a job with L’Oreal so I am sure we have another visit in our future!
