WHERE TO GO IN AUSTIN: BACHELORETTE PARTY IDEAS

I will take you through a list of all the places we went in Austin, TX this past weekend for my friend Addie’s bachelorette party!

Austin, Texas has become a huge destination for bachelorette/bachelor parties and now I can certainly see why!  We had a ball. I didn’t take the time to get photos but I’ll still give you a list of the places we enjoyed.

STAY
Embassy Suites Downtown Town Lake on S Congress

This hotel is an excellent choice for a group.  The rates were low and the location was perfect for walking to eat and drink on Congress St.  They have a complimentary breakfast and happy hour every day.  We took advantage of both.  The breakfast had a large selection and it was nice to be able to run down and grab something while we were taking turns showering and all getting ready for the day.  And they offered a couple wines, beers, a margarita and wells for happy hour.  It was a bonus to have a large social area in the hotel around the kitchen and bar for a meeting spot.  The rooms had two double beds, a bathroom and a living room area with a pull out couch.  They worked well because we had a place to gather and have the brides personal shower.

EAT
THE CEDAR DOOR

This is the spot we walked to for dinner on the first night.  We were able to sit out on the patio and have some Coronas so it was perfect.  The menu had a good variety.

GUERO’S TACO BAR

Güero’s is a happening mexican spot on S Congress.  We headed here for a late lunch on Friday.  There was a little of a wait but it was definitely worth it.  The margs were on point and the tacos did not disappoint! It is a fun spot for a group meal.

UPSTAIRS AT CAROLINE

We headed here for some [more] tacos and drinks before heading out to some other bars for the night on Friday.  It was a laid back atmosphere where we ordered at the bar.  Perfect start to the night!  I think this would be a fun bar to come to just for drinks too.

SEARSUCKER

This was our dinner spot on Saturday night.  I ordered the duck fat fries and mac and cheese (very healthy, I know haha).  It was fabulous!

MELLIZOZ TACOS

Well I could go on and on about this food truck forever–because… it has the BEST queso that I have ever, ever had.  I ordered the top shelf queso and chips and it came with ground beef, avocado & pico in it.  It totally hit the spot.  Thinking about it now, I am totally regretting not getting a taco too.  Knowing how amaze the queso ended up being makes me think the rest of the items on the menu would have been just as yum.

GOURDOUGH’S BIG. FAT. DONUTS.

Right next to the Mellizoz Taco food truck is this donut food truck.  See, Austin is definitely a city full of good eats! These donuts were on another level.  They came in a box with tons of toppings.  I was so glad I stole a bite of someones, even though I was super full!

AUSTIN AIRPORT SOUTH TERMINAL

I bet you think I am crazy for listing airport food on this list, but I just wanted to add it to note how nice it was flying in and out of this terminal.  It is brand new and this is where our Allegiant flight flew in and out of.  The check-in and security is so small and easy and there is a nice outdoor area you can enjoy while waiting for your flight.  It was right outside by the planes and had string lights, picnic tables, corn hole boards, flamingo decorations and a food truck.  At the time we were there, it was a pizza food truck so you know I had to have one more high calorie meal before we left from it! Ha!

DRINK
JO’S HOT COFFEE GOOD FOOD

We went to the location on S Congress Ave to start the day on Friday.  The coffee was excellent and on the side of the building you will find the famous ‘i love you so much’ art.  You can see my IG pic from the location here.  If you’re visiting, it’s a must!

HOTEL SAN JOSE

This has to be my favorite place we spent time during our trip.  It is a cute little hotel tucked away on S Congress Ave where you can sit outside and have some rosé or frosé–your choice!  We walked after grabbing coffee on Friday morning and decided to come back for some sips right after the opened at noon.  It was the best way to kick off the day and enjoy the weather.  There is also a cute pool deck attached to the patio that you can enjoy.  If you love rosé, then definitely add this stop to your list!

HANDLEBAR

We headed here after having tacos at Guero’s for a drink on the rooftop.  It is a really laid back bar with corn hole and a large seesaw!

WESTIN ROOFTOP

This was the brides only request for the weekend so we made sure to make time to stop in for a drink.  The views are amazing and there are very cute cabanas by the pool!

BUNGALOW

Bungalow was our first stop when we were day drinking on Rainey street.  The vibe here is super casual.  A great spot to sit out in the back and have a beer.  There were several people with dogs and a DJ started playing a little later in the afternoon.  By the bathroom they have a wall painted with ‘i hate you so much’.  A funny contrast to the wall on the side of Jo’s Coffee.

CONTAINER BAR

This bar was neat because it was surrounded by shipping containers that you could walk through and have drinks.  It actually came in really handy on Saturday too because it had started to rain by this point so we needed some shelter.  The crowd here was pretty wild and ready to have a great time!

THE PARLOR ROOM

We ended up spending a lot of time here and had a great time despite the rain.  It is a really cute bar with wallpaper that has lips all over it and a light up sign in the front of the house.  Outside in the back there is a really cute large sign that says ‘DRINK UP’ in bright yellow letters! Pretty adorable and they had a DJ playing too.

ELIZABETH STREET CAFE

This is a super colorful cafe.  I did not love their food or drinks but it is right next door to the two food trucks I mentioned above so it would be a good place to grab a coffee beforehand.
