Shoes every girl needs — Over-the-Knee Boots!

Let’s get straight to it–shoes that EVERY girl needs in her closet? Over-the-knee boots! They are hands down my most worn item because they are just so versatile. I wear them with jeans (as seen here), leggings, skirts & dresses. I wear them during the week & on the weekends. But I am not going to lie, finding the puuuuuurect pair was not an easy task.

You all know Nordstrom is my favorite large retailer to shop so I definitely went to their site when looking for a pair of tall boots to replace my $40 pair I found at Kmart (yes, I said Kmart) years ago. I tried several pairs and sent many back (TG for the free ship & return policy) before I landed on this Marc Fisher pair. I loved the shape of toe on this pair–slighted pointed with a touch of hardware–and the height of the boot–I wanted them to go up well above my knee but not be overwhelming. And I also love how they tie in the back and have a zipper on the inside of the ankle. This makes them easy to get on and off (you don’t need to lay down on the bed and beg someone to pull them off, haha) and the tie helps them stay put and not look slouchy or sloppy. They have also held up great! [wearing a sz 8, I always go up in boots so I can add thick warm socks]

It’s only Tuesday but I think this week will go by pretty quickly. We have several things to do around the house to prep for a little birthday get together we are hosting on Saturday for my 30th! Don’t you love having people over because it gives you that push you needed to get something done that you have been talking about for months? We had been wanting to redo the piece of furniture we use for a bar cart to make it more modern and last Sunday we finally got around to it! I will share the finished product and other tid bits on my Instastory this week. Hope you all are having a good one!

Oh, and just a side note–I think a over-sized sweater and OTK boots makes the perfect outfit for Thanksgiving day if your fam does a casual get-together. These pieces would be great to order!

BEANIE – THE PERF COLD WEATHER ACCESSORY

I had been that girl complaining that the temps weren’t feeling Fall enough around here–until this past weekend that is. It took a turn for the COLD and I dealt with it by pulling out all my favorite beanies.

I wore this look to grab coffee and then go to lunch with Ethan yesterday after we got finished with a shoot. I had forgotten how cozy and warm a beanie can be! Totally makes a difference when in the chill when it’s windy outside. If you don’t have a couple in your closet then you should change that asap! I can be pretty picky. I don’t like slouchy ones and I always make sure they have a pom pom. I get a lot of wear out of this nude one and I also keep a basic black one in heavy rotation. && I have my eye on this one. Might have to order it next!

Today is my Mom’s birthday! HBD, Pam! 🙂 We are heading home to celebrate with her tomorrow night and then we leave for CA on Thursday so it’s going to be a busy week. I can’t wait! Distressed Hoodie + Adidas Shadow Sneaks

I would like to say I’m in with all the people who are already moving right along in 2017, but in reality I am still dragging along this week. That’s not to say that I am not really excited about the new year and all the great things that are to come–I actually am! I just feel like I need the first couple of weeks of January to ease into it. So, that leads me to more casual wear! It’s all I have been wanting to wear lately and it has made me SO happy!

Case in point, this new distressed neutral hoodie. I am loving it! There are three color options & mine is the blush. It’s over-sized too so I know I will be wearing it lots with leggings this month. [wearing a 6 US and I could have easily ordered a size smaller]

Here are some other throw on and go hoodie options that I am crushing over:

&& I cannot say enough good things about these new tennies! Ethan is my tennis shoe guy.. he pretty much picks out all the pairs I end up getting and he told me these Tubular Shadows were the next big thing. When I looked them up I fell in love with the style. I was kind of wanting a pair in this dark green color scheme already so I was excited to see this option but I also love the grey! I suggest sizing down in these. I normally wear an 8 in tennies, sometimes a 7 1/2 and I got a 7 in these.

Good Vibes

So lately I have really had a thing for sweatshirts. That’s not typically my style but I feel like there are just too many cute ones out there right now to pass up. && I am just really, really into casual pieces at the moment. Perfect for chilly, grey weather–which is what we’ve been having here.

Plus, what’s better than a sweatshirt that actually says ‘good vibes’?! I think that pretty much means you will have a better day just by throwing it on. It’s a soft one too! [wearing a small]

If you don’t have a pair of white sneaks yet then get on that. You will wear them tons! [wearing a size 6 1/2 in mine, be sure to size down at least one full size]

I found a really cute alternative to my Givenchy bag I have been carrying non-stop! Both this one and this one are so similar in size and shape and so, so much more affordable!

I have yet to get solid goals written down for 2017, but I am definitely tackling that ASAP. I have so many things I would like to do for Weekend Wishing this year floating around in my head and I am really, really excited about all of them but I also feel like if I don’t actually take the time to write them down then they will get overlooked. So, that is on the agenda for sure. And I know there are some weak areas that I need to improve on. I want to write those down too so I can tackle them as well. Have you all made any resolutions yet?

My Favorite Winter Accessory

C H E E R S to December! We’re well into the holiday season now so my days are all about being as productive as possible so I can squeeze my favorite Christmas activities into my evenings and weekends. Hence–a trip to Hillenmeyer Christmas Shop last weekend! If you’re local then it’s a must. It’s a magical little place where you do anything from design a fresh wreath for your front door to roast a marshmallow (or three) in the fireplace.

When we visited last Sunday it was chilly and misting/sprinkling. The perfect excuse to pull out my Hunter boots and my new favorite beanie (couldn’t resist the red)! Both would make perfect gifts! I know I will be happy to have them when the snow really starts to fall around here this year. Which is also why I have added these to my Christmas wish list! [I ordered my normal boot size, which is a half size up for me]

A pom pom hat has quickly become my very favorite winter accessory! In fact, I already have this one in black and I went back for this festive color becuase I liked the fit so much and I know it’s warm. This is the other one I have been wearing non-stop and these are the ones I still have my eye on:

I think they would make the perfect stocking stuffer or gift for any gal on your list becuase they ship for free and fit everyone. No need to text anyone and say, “what size do you think I should buy her…” which is always a plus!

Oooh, and I can’t forget to mention this top. It’s super soft so it will be perfect for layering this Winter. In the meantime, I’ve just been doing oodles of lounging around the house in it too!

Which…..is exactly what I am about to do right now! The Victoria Secret Fashion Show is calling my name! Did you all watch?!
