YOU NEED A PAIR OF LOAFERS IN YOUR CLOSET

Turtleneck || Jeans, similar || Faux Fur Stole || Velvet Loafers || Handbag || Sunglasses

Sometimes I struggle with shoes to wear to work.  It’s hard to find a pair that is comfortable enough for all day wear and still on point style-wise.  I have a couple pairs of trusty ballet flats but as it gets cooler I find myself wanting something that covers up my foot a bit more for warmth and also to hide my pale feet a bit (since I usually only tan for the weekends).  So this year I set out to find a pair of loafers.

Last week I was browsing the Nordstrom site and came across these Sam Edelman loafers.  SOLD.  My favorite flats are Sam Edelman and they have held up great so I figured these would be a good choice.  And when I saw that they came in black velvet with silver hardware I almost couldn’t get them in my cart fast enough.  I think that combo makes them trendy, yet is still so classic.  I think these run true to size/maybe a tad big.  If you are in between sizes I would definitely go down.  [wearing a 7.5]

I plan to wear mine with black skinny pants to the office and with jeans in the evenings and on the weekends.  I have them on here with a pink stole (How fun?!), black turtleneck (Great basic! Wearing a small) and levi’s.  and I cant wait to wear them with my stripe cashmere sweater soon too.  I love how they will elevate a simple outfit.

If you are in the market for some loafers and want to browse a few more options then scroll through these picks:

Alrighty, and now it’s on to packing.  We leave on Thursday for our trip to San Diego and LA and while I cannot wait, I am also having a hard time squeezing everything in this week to get prepped.  So wish me luck.  HAPPY HUMP DAY!

It was New Year’s Day yesterday so in true celebratory fashion I figured I needed a yum Bloody Mary and some eggs benny.  Brunch?  Yes, please!  Don’t worry we did all share a side of black eye peas too!  They are said to bring good luck if eaten on the first day of the year.  Did you all have any??

We met Ethan’s fam to eat and snapped these right before we headed inside.  I just got this skirt in && I couldn’t love it more.  I have always been a fan of an a-line mini skirt (I think they are flattering) and when I saw that this one was velvet AND studded I was sold!

Bonus: It’s also on sale right now–only $25.  How crazy?  [wearing a 0]

Also, you don’t want to skip out on these boots.  I have worn them wayyyy more than I thought I would and it seems like every time I do I get compliments on them!  They are fully in stock here & will ship for free.  I also found these sunnies back in stock on the same site!

I hope you all had a great New Year’s Day and got to be a little lazy at home!  I definitely took a nap that afternoon and it was amaze!

On trend: Velvet

If there’s one trend I have fallen head over heels for this season it definitely has to be velvet!  I love the texture of it so when I saw these Steve Madden sneaks I had to have them.  && how cute are the satin laces? [wearing a 7.5 here, I would suggest sizing up a half or whole size]

We snapped these pics after a brunch when we were in Chicago recently.  I layered a long sleeve tee under this turtleneck sweater (it’s a good one) so I could skip a jacket and add a little length.  The long sleeve tee is the perfect basic for your closet! [wearing a small in both]

FYI, these are the exact jeans I am wearing.  They just come with a finished hem.  I cut mine myself.  And how cute is that back pocket?  [TTS, wearing a size 25]

Sooo..today is my birthday!  We had a [early] birthday dinner last night with my dad (you may have seen the picture I snapped on my IG story of the bruschetta–best everrrrr) and later we’re headed to see the rest of my family.  Cannot wait for some Mexican!  That’s what I suggested my mom make for us.  I figure it will be a good contrast to all the turkey and ham that we are about to eat on Thursday. Ha!
