Off the Shoulder

SUMMER FESTIVAL WEAR

This is what I wore last Saturday to the Well Crafted festival at Shaker Village.  It was a hot, hot day so I went with my new lightweight one shoulder top and my trusty denim shorts.

OFF THE SHOULDER SWEATER UNDER $30!

This off the shoulder sweater surprised me.  I picked it up a couple months back (it’s still available in all sizes, not to worry) and I figured it would be a good one to have for when I wanted to dress up a bit but still needed to stay warm.  And it has come in handy more than I realized it would!  The best part? It comes in 7 colors and is under $30!

How to Complete an Outfit: Statement Belt

Don’t get me wrong, I love an easy summer outfit BUT at times I find myself thinking they can seem a bit unfinished.  It’s easy in the cooler months when you can layer with a jacket or add a scarf or hat.  It gives the outfit a bit of dimension and makes it seem balanced and complete.  I think the answer to this in the warmer temps is a belt.  Belts come and go as far as fashion trends but they are definitely in right now.  Statement belts are having such a moment and I am certainly not complaining about it!  This western belt has been a staple for me.  I wear it ALL.  THE.  TIME!  I just love how it can pull an outfit together. Last weekend I had it on with jeans, a tee and red heels for a Friday night out with friends downtown and I pair it with distressed denim shorts for a daytime look often too.  [wearing a small]

I have my eye on this one too.  I love it!  && I am dying over the stars on this one!

Oh, and I know this off the shoulder top is just a plain black knit and nothing special really but it has served me well!  I have ended up needing it with so many outfits.  It’s only $25 so grab one.   It’ll come in handy! …and now that I think about it, I should definitely grab one in white.  Going to order that today! We took these pics on the cobblestone streets in Soho.  Soho will forever be one of my favorite areas to be during the day in NYC.  I love the shopping (even if it is often just window shopping) and the fact that there’s so many great coffee shops, restaurants and little bars for a cocktail.  It’s where you will find many of the trendy well known spots and it’s also where you will run into a new little gem during each trip.  Ethan and I found a great little bar with a rosé happy hour that we stopped into!

Happy Friday, loves!  Ethan and I are headed to a patio party later tonight and I am looking forward to a glass of wine and the feeling of the weekend. Hope you all have a good one!

Spring Trends

Some years I hate the transition into Spring.  It’s like I either want a super soft grey cozy sweater or I want a pair of cut off denim shorts–the in between can be hard.  However, this year I have already found myself enjoying the middle months more so I had to ask myself why.  I want to recreate this feeling every year so I am always enjoying time periods rather than wishing them away to get to the next.  So here’s the main two differences from this year..

First, we made a point to travel to warmer spots in the first part of the year.  We did a long weekend in Miami in January and weekend in Charleston in February.  These definitely helped get me ready for Spring.  It was a welcomed change of pace just to be able to have bare ankles so soon in the new year without pushing the envelope too soon here in KY and being grumpy becuase I was really freezing.  So I will definitely try to do some similar travel again next year.

Second, I am really loving some of the fashion trends that are going to be saturating the market this Spring.  I combined several of those into the outfit that you see above.  Easy to wear, off the shoulder tops–light wash denim–mules–chokers–and hoop earrings!  All a yes, in my book!

This Free People lightweight sweater is pretty much stealing the show here though.  It’s the perfect little number to take you into warmer months and it also comes in several other color options!  Pair it with some jean shorts, a glass of wine & a patio and you are good to go! [wearing a small for a slouchy fit]

I am also LOVING this one and this one.  Both will give this same laid back, effortless look.

If you have the shopping bug like me then check out the new arrivals in the trend section on the Nordstrom site.  It’s always one of my favorite places to browse and get ideas of what I want to add to my closet before I finalize an online order.
