WHERE TO SHOP FOR MODERN HOME DECOR

Hi all!  Happy hump day!  Ethan and I have a photo shoot tonight and then we plan to do a little date night treat after so I am pumped.  In the meantime, I want to share some home decor that I have been crushing on with you all.  I am also including my favorite websites to browse for home items!

I go in phases when all I think about is home decor–&& I have certainly been in one of those phases lately.  I think it is partly because I am working from home now so I am surrounded by everything in our house that much more.  And I think it is also because we began an overhaul on our decor at the end of 2017 and have not fully finished.

When I bought our home back in 2014 I did almost a complete cosmetic remodel.  Things like flooring, cabinets, countertops, appliances, paint, bathroom vanities and lighting.  Thankfully all the finishes I chose for those main things were neutral and updated, so we still like them!  However, in the past few years we have started to want things more minimal and modern looking.  We still love a super cozy vibe but we are slowly changing things such as curtains, furniture, rugs, lamps, mirrors, etc out to fit our current style.  For ex, you’d be surprised how much taking down an ornate oval brushed sliver mirror in the bathroom and replacing it with a round mirror with a thin black metal border can do to the overall feel.

So.. as we continue on in this process I thought it would be fun to share items I am eyeing with you all.  I am also going to list out my favorite places to browse online for home decor that is modern and trendy YET affordable.  Enjoy!

WEST ELM –  We have a velvet couch and ottoman and a side table from here down at the lake and I love them! Their other items are on point as well.  Always a go to when browsing.
CB2 – I think their selection is trendy and the items seem to be good quality.  Anything purchased from here will give an updated feel to your house.
TARGET – I am not a huge Target fan like the rest of the world, but when they came out with their Project 62 line last year I fell totally in love.  It fits our style exactly and the prices were GREAT!
JOSS AND MAIN – I have been ordering from Joss and Main since I moved into my first apartment post college.  I love that their selection changes so often.
AMAZON – I never used to think to check Amazon for home items but since Ethan has a prime account I try to order through it as much as possible.  You can find some great items on here if you are willing to spend time searching–I do not find their search engine to be the best at narrowing down what you are looking for.
OVERSTOCK – If you are looking for something specific then this is a great place to search because the prices most always beat other sites.  For example, I was looking for grey upholstered bar stools for the lake house that swiveled and I was able to find a perfect set from Overstock.  You just need to know when you have in mind before you go searching since the inventory is overwhelming.
URBAN OUTFITTERS – I’ve found that Urban is a fun place to get cheeky things to add some character to your house.  I used to think of their home section as only things that you would add to a loft living space that you had when you were 19, but now think they have some items that are really trendy and fun.  As long as you don’t go overboard, they can add a unexpected but great detail to your space.
H&M – I love H&M for affordable basic clothing items so when they introduced a home section a few years ago I was excited.  I don’t find the items to be high quality but it is a fun place to look for some items that add a little flare and don’t need to stand the test of time.
CRATE & BARREL – One of my favorite things to browse their site for is glassware and bar items.  They have such a good, unique and classy selection to choose from.  A great place to get a wedding gift too, FYI.
